Unlike growing-level standards, GOTS covers the entire supply chain — from certified organic fibre through spinning, knitting, dyeing, finishing and garment production. Without GOTS certification from your manufacturer, an organic cotton claim is unverified and legally exposed.
Minimum 70% certified organic fibre content. Prohibition of 100+ hazardous chemicals in processing. Mandatory wastewater treatment at all certified facilities. Social compliance criteria aligned with ILO standards across the supply chain.
With 95%+ organic content: "Organic Cotton" label with GOTS logo. With 70-95% organic content: "Made with Organic Cotton" with GOTS logo. Both claims are third-party verified and legally defensible under UK and EU green claims regulations.

Your product is a blend (e.g. organic cotton / recycled polyester) and you want to make an organic content claim. OCS verifies the traceability and percentage of organic material without the full GOTS scope.
